There is however, a lot of heart and dedication. Every weekend, every worknight they give their all.
At the center of the operation is driver Richard Brace Jr. His dreams and ambition are what drive this team to succeed, but that success is earned because of the people he has surrounded himself with. Crew chief Allen Young works hard to produce the perfect set-up for the track and for Richard. Jeff Adell and Kelly Ledbetter make up the support crew that handle everything from bolt checks to scraping mud. Anything and everything that has to be done during a race could not occur if it were not for this motley bunch of hard working people. Together they make up the team that puts the 21j Sprint Car on the track every weekend.
Born in sunny Southern California in May of 1975, Richard Brace Jr. was welcomed into this world by his family. Within five years the Brace clan had migrated north to the foothills of Northern California, where Richard got his first taste for racing. By the age of six his destiny had been written in stone as far as he was concerned. A love for racing blossomed from hanging out in his father's garage that held an impressive beast called a sprint car.
At age 16, on his birthday no less, Richard eagerly jumped into his first official racecar. Though a far cry from the 410 Sprint Cars he dreamed of, the Chevy Pinto Wagon along with his first mentor, Jack Potter, taught him many valuable lessons that he has carried with him over the years.
It took him until the year 2000, or rather 8 years, 7 racecars and 23 feature event victories if you do the math, to land a Sprint Car ride at Placerville Speedway.
After a number of years running his own team, he joined forces in 2009 with car owner Jeff Adell to race the 21j Sprint car. And with a dedicated crew, they traverse the west coast racing on their own terms, whenever and wherever they choose to.
